Hi there! I am so glad you found me! My mission is to inspire you to make the most out of your vacation time and budget to explore the world. Before we begin our journey together, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I started this blog as a way to keep family and friends in the loop when I went on a 3-week trip to Asia in 2011. I… Read More
[Hong Kong, China] Our last day of CMS! It came so quickly, yet at the same time it felt as if months had passed since we first embarked on this trip! There were still quite a few places to see in Hong Kong but there were only a few hours left before our dinner reception at Victoria Peak. Therefore, we went to a couple of places close to the hotel. Our first… Read More
[Hong Kong, China] Monday and Tuesday were both whirlwind days in Hong Kong. We were in a race with time to see as many attractions as possible. Monday morning started out with our usual country briefing. We had a little bit of time for lunch before the city tour, so went to a Dim Sum place right by our hotel. We didn’t have any Asians with us this time so it was… Read More
[Hong Kong, China] On the bus ride from the Hong Kong Airport to the hotel, someone said, “Did you guys notice? NO HONKING!!!”. Someone else said, “Yeah, and there are only motorized vehicles on the highway!” I don’ think there was anyone in our group who didn’t long for normalcy after a week in India. Upon arriving in our hotel around noon, we all went across the street to the 7-Eleven to… Read More
[Mysore, India] Faced with the prospect of spending the entire Saturday in Bangalore with hardly anything to do and a late flight to Hong Kong (11 pm), we decided to take another road trip instead. The destination: Mysore, the cultural capital of the state of Karnataka, and a city known for its palaces and temples.
[Bangalore, India] We arrived in Bangalore late Wednesday night. As soon as we stepped outside the airport, we breathed a sigh of relief – Delhi’s oppressive heat was gone! The temperature was somewhere in the low to mid 80s – temperatures we probably had not seen since starting the trip! Bangalore got off to a good start! Our first excursion was first thing Thursday morning when, enticed by some free time and… Read More
[Gurgaon, India] Tuesday was another whirlwind day in New Delhi. We started off with an interview at Times of India – a major newspaper in the country. When we arrived at the Times of India building, we told the security guy we were there to see Ajay Vaishnavi. He took our names, gave us a visitor pass and sent us off to the second floor. There, we told the next security guy… Read More
[New Delhi, India] Despite the fact that we had arrived in Delhi on Friday, May 20, our weekend trips to Jaipur and Agra kept us from exploring the city. It wasn’t until Monday, May 23rd that we finally had a full day of activities in India’s capital.
[Agra, India] There is not much one can say about the Taj Mahal without sounding cliche. I remember reading about the Taj Mahal as a teenager and keeping a picture of it in my diary, thinking “I will likely never get to see it.” And although I had seen many more pictures of it since (the Taj is one of the most recognized buildings in the world), seeing it in person was… Read More
[Jaipur, India] We arrived in Delhi late Friday, May 20th. The next day, we were originally supposed to do a city tour of Delhi and then head to Agra in the afternoon. Wanting to explore more of India and to take advantage of a having an Indian (Ryno) on our team, we decided to deviate and detour to Jaipur, a city famous for its palaces and the Amber fort. The Amazing Race:… Read More
[New Delhi, India] This will be a short entry as we spent only a few hours in Delhi. We arrived several hours later than anticipated and by the time we checked in at the hotel, it was 3:30 am and we had to be out to door at 5 am for our day trip to Jaipur. The India portion of our trip was already starting off with IST – India Stretchable Time!
