Boat Day on Lake Michigan

I finally had a couple of much needed slower days. My personal trip was winding down and I had work trip to Champaign, IL coming up. I filled the distance- and time- gap with a visit to my friend Krisi’s house in Deerfield, IL, a Chicago suburb that was a 4.5-hour drive from St. Louis. This also conveniently put me within a couple of hours of both my work destination and Indiana Dunes National Park! Man, whoever planned this trip did a good job 😉
I last saw Krisi in 2015 when I visited Chicago for the first time. We had a fantastic day taking a billion photos at the Bean! She had moved to a new house since my last visit, and I her kids are no longer toddlers, too! It was fun catching up on all the changes over lunch on her giant deck.
In the afternoon, we went out on the family’s boat on Lake Michigan. The water was choppier than we anticipated, so we docked near the shore and enjoyed some adult beverages.
The following day, I worked remotely on what turned out to be a colder, rainy day – my first bad-weather day on this trip! When everyone came home from work/school, we grabbed yummy Thai food nearby. We didn’t get a chance to go into the city this time, but I will be back in March 2024 and that will be promptly remediated.
