I am 10 days out of my upcoming trip to Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, and I am already thinking ahead of how to pack for 10 days worth of travel in temperatures ranging from 30F (0C) to 80F (26C). It seems like it snowed in Yellowstone today! YIKES!

I found that I have to go to the National Weather Service for a decent forecast, as weather.com and accuweather.com have been showing vastly different things. Glacier is particularly challenging, as it straddles the Continental Divide and the climate will be different on the East and West side, with elevation adding another complicating factor. Yellowstone and Grand Teton seem to be just as unpredictable.

One thing I stumbled upon on the National Park Service Glacier website is the plowing status of the Going-to-the-Sun road, which bisects the park. I wrote about how long it takes to plow this thing from all the snow in a blog post from my 2015 visit. When I visited in July back then, the road was already open, but it seems that is still being plowed right now. Here’s the current status:

And there are amazing photos of the plowing itself on Flickr! The amount of snow just blew my mind. In some of the photos, it’s hard to tell where the plow is!!! And how does the plow know where the road is? I am wigging out!!! 🙂

I am wondering whether a carry-on is feasible, given this crazy weather I have to plan for! I guess we shall see. 🙂 If there is one thing I don’t enjoy much about travel, it’s the packing. What’s the point of having all these cute clothes and shoes if you can’t bring them ALL with you? ARGH. 😉
